To the joy of many USC fans, the defensive line will be a significantly better unit in 2025. One of the players who will be able to contribute for the Trojans in the trenches is Jide Abasiri. After seeing action in 10 games as a freshman, the Minnesota native is ready to see an uptick in production this upcoming season.

Seemingly all the time, one can glance on X and see a new video of Abasiri either in the gym or on a field working on his pass-rushing moves. Some aspects that are clear that he has been working on include the initial burst off the snap and inside technique.

There aren't too many other ways about it; in the Big Ten, USC needs to have big, athletic, and highly skilled big men on the line. Considering the steps that Abasiri is working toward and how he has worked this offseason, it is something of a safe bet to say that he will be one of the pieces that coach D'Anton Lynn will be able to rely on during the grueling war during BIG competition.

The commitment of Abasiri and continued drive to improve should serve as an inspiration of what happens for those who stick around and develop within the same program and system. Ultimately it will all need to culminate once the ball goes live during the fall. For now, anyone can do what is in their immediate control.

Without question, Abasiri is putting himself in a position to be a regular contributor and will look to compete for a starting job during training camp. Regardless of where the lineman ends up being on the depth chart, Trojan fans have to like what they have been seeing, and they'll be able to look forward to seeing how it pays off here shortly.
