'Wind of Change' sees USC's new home, the Big Ten, taking over SEC

As the famous rock band, The Scorpions, once shared, there is a 'Wind of Change.' By being now in the Big Ten, USC has actually contributed and will do so even more in ensuring that the BIG will be the better of the two conferences between the assumed SEC power and the Trojans' new home.

This development may come as something of a shock and may seem completely incomprehensible to some. There is a known network that constantly fills the airwaves that attempts to, on purpose, prop up the SEC beyond what they have actually earned on the field.

A lot of this has come through the honest and deserved accolades of coach Nick Saban. Considering he is retired, at least for now, the lone saving grace and single person who was best able to use the bully pulpit to ensure the SEC got its way is no longer on the sidelines.

Time will tell if Alabama, in particular, can continue to muster up worthy seasons for legitimate playoff consideration that doesn't involve arguments that aren't actually based on how the games bore out.

New USC conference is now ahead of SEC

From the Big Ten's perspective, they have done well so far to move and shift with the times. Increasingly, more of the better athletes are staying in the Midwest and on the West Coast. There are a couple of teams that are currently in the middle of the pack, including USC, that, if/when they get their act together, the top-to-bottom strength of the conference will simply be better.

These types of tectonic movements can be a little too earth-shattering for some. It is the new reality, however. Don't take the word of a column or whatever statements are issued during either of the media day events, though. Instead, look at how the head-to-heads are turning out and look at who is going how far once the College Football Playoffs come around. For the past two seasons in particular, the Big Ten is unquestionably winning when and where it matters most.
