The USC track and field team is one of the strongest in the nation. During the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational, the Trojans showed just how good this group can be, particularly in the sprint program. Madison Whyte, Dajaz Defrand, and Jassani Carter started the weekend on the right note with a sweep during the women's 200m event on Friday. The roster, led by USC Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Quincy Watts, continued that positive momentum into Saturday.
Keeping up with the individual success, Brianna Selby earned a first-place finish with a time of 11.11 during the women's 100m event. This doubled as a PR and meet record for the freshman sprinter. On the USC track and field X account, the social media team shared a picture of her holding the peace sign following the impressive victory.
Coming in second was fellow Trojan Samirah Moody at 11.15. Four of the top six finishers were racing for the Cardinal and Gold, as Olivia Pace also had a personal best of 11.37 that was able to earn her a sixth-place finish in a talented field. Carter only narrowly came in behind Nebraska's Darby Thomas at 11.27 (.269) and ended in fifth.
Good USC track and field success during 400m events
The women's 4x400m relay roster has a lot of top national talent. Yemi John, Carter, Whyte, and Mia Brahe-Pedersen won the women's 4x400m relay in convincing fashion. Their time of 3:29.61 outpaced TCU's 3:35.36 and Michigan's 3:35.57.
For the women's 400m event, Whyte continued her winning streak with a 50.91. Her time set the new meet record. 51.31 finished in third, and her 51.31 race is now her season best for 2025. The sophomore and junior athletes continue to have excellent showings with the outdoor season well underway and will hope to make a deep push for USC track and field in Eugene, Oregon, later on when both the BIG and NCAA championships take place there in May and June.
