Sweeping in the 100m event is one thing. For USC track and field, even that isn't anywhere near good enough for the standard that the USC Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, Quincy Watts, has set. While taking part in the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational this past weekend, the program had an extremely strong weekend throughout all competitions.

There were a number of notable performances. During the men's 100m, the Trojans swept first to fifth place in College Station. Max Thomas earned the win with a time of 9.92. Teammate Garrett Kaalund ran a 9.93, and Eddie Nketia also finished sub-10.00 at 9.96 for a season best from the sophomore.

Travis Williams then came in fourth place at 10.07. JC Stevenson rounded out the top five at the race with a 10.13. Taylor Banks only marginally came in seventh behind Texas Tech sprinter Kimarlie Stewart with a 10.15 (.145) finish. For Williams, Stevenson, and Banks, Saturday's race at Texas A&M marked season bests.

In a 100m event that also featured athletes from the likes of TCU, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Houston, the expanded sweep only shows how dominant the sprint program is for the Trojans. This group also won the 4x100m relay.

Greatness from USC track and field

Travis Williams, Max Thomas, Garrett Kaalund, and Eddie Nketia set a facility record at EB Cushing Stadium with a 38.41. As shared on the USC track and field social media page, this was also good to set the new school record. After both races, the 100m top-five finishers and 4x100m winners posed, capturing the moment after a truly incredible athletic display by the program.

With the Mt. SAC Relays coming up in Walnut, California, during the April 18th weekend, the team will hope to continue their good form. Considering how well the USC track and field athletes are racing right now, they should continue to be strongly considered to showcase their talent on a larger scale with the Big Ten and NCAA Championships right around the corner.
