A lot of winning is happening with USC track and field. Between the number of records and leads being set, the Trojans are dominating across all events. With a lot of high-end talent on the roster, being competitive is always a given. Contending, furthermore, for top spots in all of the athletic events is always a strong possibility.

Particularly after coming off good performances against the competition at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational, this team looks well-positioned to make a lot of noise when the NCAA Championships take place later on in June.

This helps to explain why both the men's and women's squads are currently ranked No. 2 in the national rankings. After Week 3, the United States Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has both Trojan rosters at the two-spot in the National TFRI (Track & Field Rating Index). Approximately a third of the way through the outdoor season, the athletes are picking up steam and continue to improve on their previous times and differences.

Significant USC track and field events from Texas A&M

There are a lot of great feats happening throughout the team. The races from the sprinters in particular are gaining a lot of notoriety. To name a few of the accomplishments from College Station, Brianna Selby won the women's 100m race, while Max Thomas came in first in the men's 100m event. Madison Whyte also won the women's 200m sprint.

The runners had a good day at the office, as did the athletes in other categories. Ashley Erasmus set a meet record (MR) in the women's shot put with a throw of 17.63m (57'10¼"). Racquil Broderick also grabbed an MR in men's discus with a throw of 62.44m (204'10"). Elias Gerald placed second in the men's high jump, clearing 2.17m (7'1½") on his third attempt.

With a lot of action remaining for USC track and field and a lot of athletes starting to find their rhythm, the top spots for both the men's and women's rosters could be challenged soon. For now, that's a side aspect. The Trojans will focus on continuing to improve and be ready when the Big Ten and NCAA Championships get underway.

Until then, the team's social media page sharing and acknowledging the latest accomplishment is a fitting way to cap off what was a spectacular weekend for the Trojans.
