In one of the more thrilling events in all of sports, the USC track and field team dominated during the men's 100m race. The sprint is the consensus measure of who the fastest person in the world is. And at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational, the Trojans proved to be exactly that, at least among all of the athletes who competed in College Station on that given weekend.

It's a spring event, but there are multiple aspects to consider. For some runners, getting off to a good start and pushing most of the initial effort in the beginning is essential. Others prefer to have a good reaction time but then grow as the yards pass with each step toward the finish line.

As seen by the clip released on X by the first-place finisher, Max Thomas, the intricacies and preferred approach from the athletes are equally valid, as the Trojans swept one through five in the men's 100m race. Competing against sprinters from Houston, Nebraska, Texas Tech, and the hosts, it was the Cardinal and Gold who dominated and nearly secured the top six finishes if it weren't for a fractional advantage of .004 by Kimarlie Stewart of the Red Raiders over Taylor Banks.

Impressive finish from USC track and field winner

From the start, JC Stevenson grabbed the early lead. Starting in lane three, the junior looked like his quick start was going to be enough for the potential win. His teammates found another gear, however, just before the halfway point. The Trojan teammates overcame Stevenson's impressive start and were able to push through the finish line before him.

Winning from lane seven took some work from Thomas. He ended up with a 9.92. It wasn't until the final quarter of the race that the afterburners kicked in and allowed him to finish 0.01 seconds ahead of Garrett Kaalund. Eddie Nketia and Travis Williams finished in third and fourth, respectively. At one point, looking like he was set up to finish in sixth out of the eight participating runners, his closing acceleration was a truly impressive feat from the junior to ensure the USC track and field victory.
