In an impressive USC track and field program that has multiple elite athletes, the performances from the Trojans on a weekly basis are second to none in the nation. Throughout all sports, only the best in the country come to be a Trojan. This is especially on display among the women sprint runners.

Having recently participated in the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational, the USC short-distance specialists made their mark at College Station. In a field that featured athletes from TCU, Texas Tech, Houston, and the hosts, the Trojans swept. Finishing one, two, and three, it was only a difference of 0.1 that prevented Tiana Eyakpobeyan from giving an all Cardinal and Gold finish from first through fourth.

In a clip that has been shared by the USC track and field team account, the entirety of the race can be seen. The three Trojan sprinters raced in section 11 of the women's 200m event. Running in lanes three, four, and five. Coming around the bend, it became very clear that the Cardinal and Gold would sweep the event.

Madison Whyte created a good, sizable gap between her and the rest of the field, as her first-place finish was never truly in jeopardy. Not only was her 22.32 good enough for the win at the EB Cushing Stadium event, but as it turns out, it was also a current NCAA and world lead, as shared in the post of the race footage. Only a sophomore, it's amazing to think how she'll be able to further improve when she becomes an upperclassman with the Trojans. For today, her floor apparently is having a PR that serves as a facility record and lead among all sprinters in the women's 200m.

Good all-around team performance for USC track and field

While Whyte was setting a new global standard in lane five, Dajaz Defrand had a strong race herself in lane six. Able to stay within striking distance for a lot of the early part of the event, the junior finished with a 22.66. Jassani Carter had a good late push to bridge the distance between herself and her teammates toward the end and completed the sweep with a 22.75.

Simply put, this is a fantastic roster, and any event can see either of these Trojan athletes pushing for a record of some sort. It makes it even better that none of the racers are seniors. Already winning by comfortable margins and resetting standards, this USC track and field team will continue to be good for a long time to come.
