A lot is made of the recent resurfacing of the former USC quarterback's concerns about joining the Chicago Bears at the time. Caleb Williams is now under the guidance of Ben Johnson as a head coach, Declan Doyle as an offensive coordinator, and J.T. Barrett as a quarterbacks coach.

Regardless of how the situation is viewed at Soldier Field, the situation is entirely different from when the former Trojan was drafted by the organization. Now set to undergo his first year under coach Ben Johnson, Williams is in a good position to achieve a tremendous franchise-first feat.

Through the history of Chicago QBs, there has not been one to throw for over 4,000 yards. While speaking with FS1's Colin Cowherd, the newly minted HC discussed his faith in the starting signal caller and what he hopes to see from Williams this season.

Cowherd made an interesting comparison of Williams to Patrick Mahomes. He noted how most at the position, even the greats, throw interceptions. After all, if someone is pushing the ball downfield and looking to make plays, defensive backs on the other side are paid to make the highlight reel themselves.

At the end of the day, there are only a few people on the planet who can do what certain QBs do, and Williams is one of them. There are times someone like him will throw a pick and instantly wish that they could have the throw back.

For the most part, he's capable of fitting the ball in tight windows and can create off-script gains, particularly when things break down in front of him.

Good quarterback environment for USC's Caleb Williams in Chicago

Listening to coach Johnson, he seems relatively calm and excited about not only working with Williams but also righting the ship in Chicago for the team as a whole.

They are in a tough NFC North division. Adversity will hit. Depending on how the season plays out, the whispers will become louder when there's a mistake or the Bears lose a winnable game. For the Chicago HC and Williams, it's all a part of the process that they are now enduring and growing from together.

Williams throwing for 4,000+ would be an excellent individual accomplishment. It would also be the result of the team as a whole processing in the needed direction. Coach Johnson is amazed at the talent and skill set of his current QB1, and he believes that it's a number that fans can watch the former USC man under center obtain.
