It's known that former USC quarterback Caleb Williams would eventually have to answer the latest surrounding his father's statements that were released as part of an upcoming book release. Naturally, the Chicago Bears quarterback dismissed any allegations of his not being excited to be the franchise's QB.
His continued statement pertaining to his relationship with his family would go on to not only shut down any further discussion but really show a glimpse of what USC fans have known of Williams since watching him wear the #13 jersey at the Coliseum.
A reporter during the press conference with Williams asked the quarterback if his father speaks for him. Not only was it an odd, disrespectful question, but the way the former Trojan handled that interaction was the right way to do so.
Williams made it clear that he speaks for himself, first of all. In terms of what others may or may not say, that does not necessarily equate to an endorsement or anything of that nature. He did acknowledge and mention a discussion with his family about how, due to his being a public figure, certain statements can and will reflect on him.
That is a separate issue, however.
For Williams, he wanted to make it abundantly clear that he loves his family and speaks with his parents regularly, and they have a close bond and relationship. While saying this, Williams brought up how, at the end of the day, his father is like anyone else who simply wants the best for his son.
In terms of how the latest public statement came out or what was intended in the upcoming book tour in question, Williams' dad comes from a place of wanting to help his son be in the best position to succeed. Outspoken and confident in how he carries that message, the desire is to help a loved one.
Excellent moment on display from former USC QB
While this should be the end of this discussion entirely, for whatever reason, the national media landscape will likely find a way to spin this into a negative or carry it out and take it into other unrelated but odd places.
That tends to be the shake that USC receives in terms of coverage. Those looking at this situation in particular will see nothing other than a proud father and an equally ambitious and family-oriented son striving for greatness.
