An organization that is run well needs to have every facet fine-tuned. USC has a lot going for it just by being USC. Now, under coach Lincoln Riley at the helm and elite position coaches on staff, a lot of promising signs of progress are starting to become apparent after some down years.
Everyone knows that in order to truly build a top program, how the athletes approach the weight room is an absolute necessity to do right. Fortunately for the university, their latest announcement should put any concerns to rest. The Trojans have hired Trumain Carroll as the program's Director of Football Sports Performance, as shared on the team's social media page.
Carroll joins USC after spending four seasons with Kansas State. What is nice for Trojan fans to be able to evaluate is his most recent spring camp. K-State had recently issued something of a report two days ago in which they discussed the progress of the Wildcats during the offseason.
Between the number of athletes who showed impressive growth in the muscle that they added and the improved times as runners, coach Chris Klieman lauded Carroll's initiative to combine parts of the spring practice with the allowed, allocated strength and conditioning part of their efforts. It was an approach that has been noted for resulting in 'hefty dividends.'
Past message from new USC staff member shows mindset in role
Maybe even more telling than the hundreds of pounds that were gained throughout the roster this year, an earlier clip when speaking with the KSU players likely shows part of why coach Riley wanted to add him to the staff.:
"I look forward to developing real lationship with you all. Not just relationship, but real lationships, you know, it's authetic. "
If it sounds familiar, it's because that has been a consistent USC theme. From coach Riley to GM Chad Bowden, the message has reverberated throughout the roster and current Trojan commits.
Carroll's track record speaks for itself. Now in Los Angeles, his approach and drive in the strength and conditioning department are something of an ideal fit for an absolutely critical role needed within the program.
