There is a new era in college sports. Through all of the changes, it is USC that actually finds itself in a highly advantageous position compared to other schools in the nation.
This becomes particularly true when factoring in how any and all outside NIL deals have to now go through the clearinghouse. Before then, conceivably, as long as someone had the money that they were willing to spend, a student-athlete could accept any offer without needing any form of a real-world tie-in to be a part of the deal.
In theory, this is no longer the case. Though schools and various entities will still try to find ways to max out the potential lucrative nature of any and all deals, there is at least the semblance of barriers in place to prevent any single person or organization from being able to simply spend their way to a championship.
Because of this, USC is in a better position than most. Yes, the SEC has done well in terms of recruiting over the past years. They have enjoyed decades of being able to outcompete schools on the trail. Fast forward to today, USC is in the best market in all of college sports.
How USC is well-positioned
Being so closely linked with Hollywood and the rich alumni base makes it so that the Trojan athletes will have the best opportunities, especially when comparing the potential options to those of some of the more recent traditional powers.
It is this advantage that will begin to showcase itself and manifest itself more and more as the exact nature of the current guidelines continues to be revealed. While enforcement and implementation remain a question, it is safe to assume that this advantage is something that USC can use to continue its latest string of recruiting wins for a long time to come.
