Jaxson Dart hits portal, adds fuel to Caleb Williams to USC football rumors
By Evan Desai
According to Keely Eure of USCfootball.com, USC football quarterback Jaxson Dart has hit the transfer portal.
This may not come as a surprise to you. Caleb Williams has been rumored to be heading to the Trojans ever since he hit the transfer portal himself, and even before that. This past weekend, Williams was spotted at both a Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Lakers game all in the same day.
This was notable in terms of his prospects of coming to USC, as Scott Schrader of WeAreSC.com had reported that Williams was going to be visiting SC soon, and possibly as early as this past weekend.
Jaxson Dart hitting the portal makes it seem like Caleb Williams is on his way to the USC football program.
It's not a done deal that Caleb Williams will be heading to USC football with this news, but why else would Jaxson Dart be transferring?
He'd be the starting quarterback for the Trojans if Williams wasn't coming over, as he showed flashes of strong athletic ability and arm strength in his play for SC this season.
Williams would surely start over him if he headed to SC, though, as he of course exceled in Lincoln Riley's offense this past year when he was a freshman at Oklahoma. It would be rather shocking if this news didn't mean that Williams will be heading to play for Riley, who he said he'd walk-on for.
And Williams was so effective for Riley last season. He averaged nine yards per pass attempt, tossing 21 touchdowns despite not even taking over as the starting quarterback until the sixth game of the season. He was special in the ground game as well; averaging 5.6 yards per carry and crossing the goal line six times.
Dart has a lot of potential at this level, but if this means that Williams will be coming to USC (which it certainly looks like it does), we've made a legit upgrade at QB1.
