Anyone worried about USC women's basketball shouldn't be. Coach Lindsay Gottlieb has this program better positioned to lose an All-American than anyone else in the country. JuJu Watkins may end up missing the entirety or most of the 2025-2026 season. The Trojans will continue to be a force in the Big Ten and on a national scale. Between the arrival of Jazzy Davidson and the returners, this is a very talented Women of Troy corps.
Coach Gottlieb secured the commitment from Georgia Tech junior transfer student Kara Dunn on Wednesday, as reported by LA Times writer Ryan Kartje on X. When watching Yellow Jackets games, it's very easy to see why the staff wanted to bring her to Los Angeles. She comes with a lot of experience, as during her three years at the NCAA level, she's played in at least 28 games while averaging at least 21.5 minutes per game each season.
At 5'11", the guard offers a strong overall backcourt presence. Listed as a G on the roster, she not only led the team in points at 15.5 per game but also nearly tied her GT teammate on the boards with an impressive 5.8 rebounds per game. This speaks to her ability to impact the game at various levels, always finding ways to contribute when she steps foot on the court.
Her hustle and never giving up on a possession will be welcome sights at the Galen Center, as her active hands and constant activity often gave her team second chances or stole possessions away while playing in the ACC. This type of intensity can only help, as a big play can often turn the tide in a close matchup and provide the exact energy boost needed at times.
Complete game from incoming USC women's basketball player
Offensively, she can handle the ball well and does an excellent job playing within herself. Never rushed, she either finds an open teammate or drives into the paint, using her ability to finish through contact to provide efficient points. She can also play off the ball. Moving off the ball and staying ready, her catch-and-shoot release is clean, as evidenced by her 35.4% shooting from range this past season.
The transfer portal can often come with a lot of negative dialogue surrounding it. Stories and opportunities such as Dunn joining the Trojans illustrate the positives of the current system that is in place for student-athletes. Her being a part of USC women's basketball and testing herself on one of the top rosters in the country against other Big Ten competition is a fantastic addition for coach Gottlieb and the USCWBB staff.
