A lot of USC women's basketball fans watched Jazzy Davison compete at the McDonald's All-American and Nike Hoop Summit games. While the signee was ranked in the top three, many felt that her performances on the big stage, in what proved to be competitive environments, should have seen her as the top high schooler in her class.
Those who had expressed that desire received their wish as ESPN updated the rankings for the senior class of 2025. Davidson became the new No. 1 at the top of the list. It is a well-earned distinction for the Trojan signee.
At 6'1", the Oregon native can play as a point-forward. Her versatility and ability to line up comfortably to play at any of the 1-3 positions give her a distinct advantage among her peers. During the latest exhibition, fans also saw that she has the ability to play at the 4, backing players down and proving to be equal to the challenge defensively in the low post.
Among a talented class that has notable seniors such as Aaliyah Chavez and Sienna Betts, her being able to overcome the top two prospects in the eyes of the ESPN evaluators should be telling as she is about to enter her freshman year on campus.
Anticipated USC women's basketball debut
Coming to Los Angeles as the top overall first-year player is an amazing accomplishment. Davidson will know better than anyone that it only marks the beginning. Already having given her comments on what the fall could potentially look like for USC women's basketball, she knows that the work is only getting started for the 2025-2026 season.
Coach Lindsay Gottlieb will have a lot to juggle still before the season gets underway. Some final roster decisions are likely to be made, and the extent of JuJu Watkins' timetable isn't publicly known at this time. Knowing that she will have someone like Davidson to be able to come in and ease any transitions will only further excite Trojan fans. For anyone who hasn't watched the No. 1 player of the class of 2026 play, stay tuned for some excellent basketball.
