Trojan fans are asking for the return of some grit and toughness to the USC football program. The current players and staff are answering the call so far. Spring camp and offseason workouts are showing a lot of promise, and the early results from the new strength and conditioning staff are promising up to this point.

Shahn Alston, a Trojan commit who is a part of the class of 2026, is taking matters into his own hands. The running back shared on his own social media page a video of him squatting 515 lbs., three times.
Deservedly, he tagged multiple people on his post, and the comment section is filled with Trojan fans and supporters lauding Alston for being able to get clean reps in at such a high amount of weight.

Since expressing heavy interest in joining the Trojan program and committing, Alston is someone who has stated how much coming to USC means to him. He has also displayed a high level of knowledge in understanding what it means to wear the Cardinal and Gold.

Alston knows that joining coach Lincoln Riley in Los Angeles and being on the depth chart is only the first of many steps. The Trojan commit has individual goals that he is serving, and he wants to be a part of a team that sets and meets high objectives as a whole.

Highly anticipated USC arrival for future USC RB

Being able to do so means arriving on campus a year from now in the best possible shape and condition. Especially for a young running back who will then be entering the college level of play, having the needed muscle mass and power to withstand the hits of a season from significantly bigger athletes compared to the high school level is a necessity.

While it is still a year away, Alston appears to be taking the responsibility of being a running back at USC very seriously, and he is putting in the work now to make an immediate impact in 2026.
