Try it yourself. Attempt to dribble a football. That is a skill set that former USC receiver and basketball player Drake London showed off during the warmups of one of the recent Atlanta Falcons' minicamps. The former Trojan spent three years on campus. That is all he needed before heading off to the NFL and being drafted by the Falcons with the eighth overall pick in 2022.
During the clip, as shared by Dov Kleiman on X, Trojan fans can see their former wideout casually handling the football as if it were a basketball. Being able to show off his handles and spin move into a layup attempt with the pigskin is something that can remind people of when he was at USC.
While football was the priority, London was a member of both teams. To be athletic and skilled enough to be on both rosters is an incredibly difficult feat and shows how much of an overall talent he is.
Not to be a slight toward anyone whatsoever, but very few have been in a position to be even considered to be a multi-sport athlete at the Division I collegiate level. London ended up focusing on the gridiron and went pro after a 1,000-plus-yard year, but the fact he was able to play in games for both teams says a lot.
Now in his fourth year in Atlanta, London is hoping that continued familiarity in an NFL offense and trust with his quarterback, Michael Penix Jr., will allow him to have a huge upcoming season in terms of production.
So far, so good for former USC wideout
In 2024, London had 1,271 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Looking to build on that output, many expect to see the receiver have an even better 2025.
Part of engaging in USC athletics is watching how players continue to play at the next level. Being able to track a career from its collegiate roots while with the Trojans to the next level is enjoyable to watch, especially when the Projans go on to do well at the next level. For London, he has a lot that he expects to accomplish individually and in the NFC South. The skills he showed and comfort level on the field should illustrate he has adjusted to life as a pro.
