Players can leave a program for any number of reasons. Sometimes the parting can be viewed as more amicable compared to other situations. Former USC running back Quinten Joyner will unfortunately miss the season, as he suffered a torn ACL injury shortly before the season was ready to start.
The setback took place during a Texas Tech scrimmage and occurred during a non-contact moment, as reported by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Although Joyner is no longer a Trojan, many USC fans were still eager to see how he would play at Texas Tech, still rooting for the RB as he was ready to take the field for the Red Raiders. Now, Joyner will face the difficult journey of needing to recover and regain his full strength.
The news comes at a particularly frustrating time, as Joyner was expected to have a large role in the Texas Tech offense and was viewed as one of the top available options in the portal when he initially left USC.
What could be seen from running back while at USC
Joyner's ability to be an all-around RB option who also provides the needed thump in the run game gives any team an excellent choice to turn to in the running back room. He has the power needed to be able to run between the tackles and excels when it comes to absorbing the first hit and gaining a couple of extra yards after the first contact.
With a full rehab process in store for Joyner, Trojan fans will continue to hope for the best for the running back as he will look to bounce back and once again be able to showcase why he was as highly touted as he was. The former USC player will continue to be in the thoughts and best wishes of the fan base.
