Coveted USC running back commit to take visit to Tennessee this weekend
When you have put together one of the top recruiting classes in the country, as USC has, you are going to have to fend off some stiff competition to keep your recruits. The Trojans are learning that the hard way.
This past weekend, four-star USC QB commit Julian "Juju" Lewis took a visit to Colorado to see the Buffaloes beat the Cincinnati Bearcats. Now, this coming weekend, another USC offensive commit will be visiting another suitor.
Ryan Callahan of 247Sports.com is reporting that Daune Morris, an athlete/running back from Murfreesboro, TN who has been committed to the Trojans since June is taking a visit to his in-state university, the University of Tennessee on Saturday to see the Volunteers take on Kentucky.
Morris is a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings. He's rated as the No. 30 overall athlete in the nation and the No. 16 player in the state of Tennessee.
In addition to USC and Tennessee, Morris also holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Kentucky, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Louisville, Missouri, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, and a host of others. However, this appears to be a two-school race at the moment.
The good news for the Trojans is that there are other running backs in their 2025 recruiting class. Also committed to head coach Lincoln Riley and Co. are three-star RBs Harry Dalton III from Virginia and Riley Wormley from Texas.
Still, the Trojans would hate to lose a coveted recruit like Morris this close to December's signing period. Hopefully the Trojans will be able to hold on to Morris and the rest of their top-10 nationally ranked recruiting class because it is shaping up to be a foundational one for Riley and Co.
