Though the 2024 USC football season has been a disappointment, one thing most USC fans can agree on is the excitement surrounding the 2025 Trojan recruiting class. It is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation (according to 247Sports.com), which is good for third in the Big Ten.
Perhaps the most important player in that class is quarterback Julian "Juju" Lewis. A product of Carrollton, Georgia, he is one of the top QBs in the country and he's been committed to USC since August of 2023.
Now, however, the five-star prospect is exploring his options and one of the most high-profile coaches in the game is trying to flip Lewis away from the Trojans. According to ESPN recruiting analyst Eli Lederman, Lewis will be visiting Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes this weekend as they host Cincinnati in Boulder.
It is also being reported that Lewis has interest in Indiana as well. Of course, the Hoosiers are one of the feel-good stories in college football this season as they sit at 7-0 and are ranked No. 13 in the country.
Colorado, though, is the program that USC fans may worry the most about when it comes to Lewis and this recruiting battle. He has already visited the Buffaloes in June and January of this year.
What's more, if Lewis wants to play immediately upon stepping foot on a college campus, he might lean toward calling Boulder home. It is widely expected that the Buffaloes starting QB this year, Shedeur Sanders, will head to the NFL after this season as he is regarded as a first-round talent.
Meanwhile, most believe that USC's current starting QB, Miller Moss, will return to college next season given that his NFL future is not as certain as Sanders'. Thus, Colorado will almost certainly use the two situations to their advantage as they try to lure Lewis away from USC.
Currently, Lewis is the third-highest-ranked player in USC's 2025 recruiting class according to 247Sports.com. What's more, the 247Sports composite rankings list him as the No. 28 overall player and No. 4 quarterback in the country.
He is certainly the centerpiece of the USC class and should he decide to play elsewhere, it would deal a devastating blow to the Trojans recruiting efforts. That's because this late in the recruiting cycle (players can sign with schools in mid-December), it would be next to impossible for head coach Lincoln Riley and his coaching staff to find another QB of this caliber to round out their class. Thus, all USC fans should be paying close attention to Lewis' recruiting journey until he actually signs with a school.
