To be recognized and selected for a top national showcase means a lot to players. USC is seeking to add the commitment of  Peyton Houston, a quarterback in the class of 2027, who was recently named as a camp participant in the upcoming Rivals Five-Star event.

This is something that should show Trojan fans why the coach Lincoln Riley staff is keen on adding the emerging talent. It is an invite-only showcase that brings 100 of the nation's top players for a series of workouts, skills challenges, and enhanced publicity.

Houston earned this place in the upcoming weekday action that will take place from June 23-24 through his play for Evangel Christian Academy and his work during the high school offseason.

Now slated to directly compete with and against some of the best players in the country, Houston will have an elevated platform to further showcase why so many programs are interested in adding him to their QB room.

Currently rated a four-star prospect, a good showing at the Rivals camp and a solid junior year could easily see Houston earn a fifth star. His game is impressive, and his understanding and execution of the offense are already at a high level for someone who has yet to take a snap as an upperclassman.

Something to potentially be on the lookout for among the USC faithful

An aspect that is nice about these types of showcases is the chance for everyone to have an apples-to-apples comparison of how the athletes look in a competitive environment. It may be an occasion that features a lot of drill work and the sort, but rest assured, the ones invited to this camp are there to prove that they are indeed the best at their position among the rest of their peers.

There can be a lot that is learned from something like what Rivals is hosting. If nothing else, the interviews and media access could potentially give a glimpse into what Houston is thinking at this point in time regarding his recruitment and how USC is positioned to eventually land his commitment.
