It is certainly possible to become too greedy in the recruiting game. Until the USC wins and the trail starts to dry up, it will be safe to say that the Trojan fans will have every reason to believe that they are in a position to secure their targets throughout the country.

In the case of Luke Wafle, USC finds itself in a great position to secure his services as well. From the state of New Jersey, Wafle is a high-level edge rusher who has a full energy motor that is every defensive line coach's dream.

At 6'6", Wafle has the size and strength to overpower offensive linemen while also possessing the athleticism and dynamic play to quickly leave them in the dust in pursuit of the quarterback or ball carrier.

Safe to say, when Penn State, Texas, Florida, Ohio State, and USC are on the list as the last remaining options, there is a lot to like about the player's ability in the trenches.

Wafle was recently on the Trojan campus, and the positive social media posts showing his interactions with the others made it look good for those hoping to see another play choose to come to Los Angeles and wear the Cardinal and Gold.

Reason for optimism that Wafle will commit to USC

Good players like to be around and compete with other good players. This is a stacked set of incoming classes. Many believe that the latest Talanoa Ili commitment will ultimately help Wafle in coming to USC. Though it must be added that that is speculative at this time.

Officially, the Trojans are in a good position to add Wafle to the class of 2026, but a late push from any of the other schools could still see him declare for somewhere else.

Still, considering how well this staff has done on that end, it would not at all be surprising to see USC secure yet another of the nation's top recruits at a position when it is all set and done with.
