USC football is on commitment watch again as Lake McRee set a commit date.

It may very well end up being three commitments for USC football this week.

Why? Because three-star tight end Lake McRee revealed his commitment date for Friday, June 5.

Along with USC, McRee is considering Auburn, LSU, Penn State, Purdue and Washington.

Lake McRee is set to decide between USC football and five others.

McRee hails from Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. There he had 17 catches for 274 yards and two touchdowns in 2018. However, he missed the 2019 season because of a knee injury. He will be hoping for a big 2020 season now that he’s healthy, and so will the team who ultimately lands his commitment.

It certainly looks like USC has the edge in McRee’s recruitment. The 247Sports Crystal Ball points overwhelmingly towards the Trojans.

The 247Sports composite rates McRee as the 431st player in the class. He slots in 18th among tight ends and 62nd in the state of Texas.

Standing 6-foot-4, 217 pounds, it’s clear why he’s a coveted target. He has the length to compete at the position with the frame to build on.

USC will see three tight ends graduate when the 2020 season is complete, including Erik Krommenhoek, Josh Falo and Daniel Imatorbhebhe. That will leave three tight ends on the roster. Ethan Rae and Jude Wolfe, both redshirt freshmen, joined up in the class of 2019. Jack Yary, the son of Trojan legend Ron Yary, will arrive ahead of this season.

McRee would help move the tight end position into the new era, with an emphasis on fitting into the Air Raid attack.

If he does indeed commit, it would mark the 16th pledge in USC’s class of 2021 and the third this week. On Monday, four-star quarterback Miller Moss made his commitment. Wide receiver Michael Jackson III followed up with a commitment on Wednesday.
