USC running back Ronald Jones II was named a First Team All-American by Pro Football Focus, making him the 167th all-time All-American for the Trojans.

Junior running back Ronald Jones II may not have much time left in cardinal and gold, but whenever he leaves USC it will be with his place on the Trojan All-American Walk secured.

Pro Football Focus named Jones II a First Team All-American on Wednesday with a season grade of 92.6, behind only Iowa State’s David Montgomery.

With 1,486 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns on the year so far, Jones II is just three yards away from besting Buck Allen’s total of 1,489 as the best rushing performance at USC since Reggie Bush’s Heisman-winning 1,740 yards in 2005. Behind Bush and Allen, his current rushing total is third for a Trojan going back to Marcus Allen in 1981.

As far as career totals go, Jones II passed O.J. Simpson to land fifth on USC’s all-time rushing list when he gained 140 yards against Stanford in the Pac-12 title game.

More from Reign of Troy

Currently sitting at 3,555 career rushing yards, Jones II needs 134 yards to pass Ricky Bell for fourth place all-time.

Jones II’s contributions haven’t been limited to statistical excellence. With his devastating blend of pace, power and vision, the Texas Tesla has torn through opposing defenses in the key moments. He put up two scores against Stanford in Week 2, kept USC in the game against Washington State with an 86-yard touchdown, blew threw ASU averaging 12 yards per carry and then capped the season with key touchdowns to close out UCLA and the Cardinal.

Though he had already proven himself as an elite rusher, breaking Charles White’s freshman rushing record at USC, Jones II added to his all-around game as a junior, logging 14 catches for 187 yards and a touchdown while also serving as a capable blocker.
