Five-star quarterback Tate Martell announced his Top 7 teams on Twitter Tuesday, including USC football in the first listing since his decommitment from Texas A&M.
USC football made the cut as one of the Top 7 schools being considered by five-star Bishop Gorman quarterback Tate Martell.
The top dual-threat quarterback in the country announced his list on Twitter Tuesday morning:
Among Martell’s top schools are USC, UCLA, West Virginia, Cal, Ohio State, Miami and Colorado.
USC was believed to be Martell’s top choice this time last year but momentum swung the way of Texas A&M and he committed to the Aggies in August.

While the Trojans pursued other options, notably Tua Tagovailoa who recently committed to Alabama, Martell cooled on Texas A&M this spring and announced his long-awaited decommitment at the beginning of May.
Now it appears that USC is back in the running to sign the coveted quarterback, though it’s not clear that the Trojans are still interested.

Martell’s initial link to USC was Steve Sarkisian, who had drawn his commitment back at Washington. With Sarkisian out of the picture and Clay Helton now in charge, the Trojans have turned their sites on more traditional pro-style prospects including San Clemente’s Jack Sears and Stanford commit Davis Mills.
USC also secured the commitment of 2018 quarterback prospect Matt Corral before Martell reopened his recruiting process.
The Trojans’ class of 2017 is currently at six commitments, most recently adding three-star linebacker Daniel Green out of Portland to the mix. Five-star running back Stephen Carr, four-star safety Bubba Bolden, three-star wide reicever Marlon Williams, three-star athlete Randal Grimes and three-star linebacker Juliano Falaniko round out the class.
