The USC football odds for the upcoming match up with Arizona opened with Trojans as 16.5-point favorites over the Wildcats.

The line quickly shifted a point greater at 17.5, according to VegasInsider.com.

USC is coming off of their first two game winning streak in the conference this season, having dispatched Utah and Cal to bounce back from conference losses to Stanford and Washington.

Meanwhile, Arizona looks far from the team that won the Pac-12 South a year ago. The Wildcats are 5-4 this year with all four losses coming in conference. They have conceded 40 points in each of those losses first to UCLA and Stanford, then in the last two weeks to Washington State and Washington. That last loss was an embarrassing 49-3 drubbing at that hands of the Huskies.

With Arizona’s hopes of repeating as South champions dashed, they now play the role of spoiler while the Trojans will look to notch another win towards challenging for the division.

As it stands now, USC does not control their own destiny, but they need only win out to put themselves at the door. A single Utah loss in their last four would put the Trojans in the driver’s seat.

For now, the Vegas odds have been a good indicator of USC’s success as of late.

More from Reign of Troy

Last week the Trojans began the week favored by six points over Cal. Though that line shrank to around four by game time, USC ultimately prevailed by exactly six points.

A week earlier Vegas unexpectedly set the Trojans as favorites over then-No. 3 Utah, despite the fact that USC had lost in two consecutive weeks while Utah was considered one of the nation’s top squads. That faith in the Trojans was repaid as USC beat the Utes 42-24.

Now USC is 5-3 in record and against the spread. On the other side Arizona is 4-5 against the spread this season.
