Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane will form an excellent one-two punch for USC at the wide receiver position this year. Every team needs to have a reliable third and fourth option for the quarterback to be able to turn to.
Prince Strachan could end up being someone who works himself to a position up the depth chart. Zacharyus Williams, a transfer out of Utah, is another person to watch this upcoming season.
Williams played his high school ball at Junipero Serra HS and showed a lot of potential as a three-star recruit. He ended up joining the Big 12 Utes program but has now returned to the state of California with something of a chip on his shoulder.
Student-athletes will transfer for any number of reasons. Now with USC, Williams will know the opportunities that are at his doorstep as a wideout for the Trojans. Now in a deep WR room, he will be tasked with starting the year through his efforts now as high as possible on the depth chart.
Regardless of where he falls when that time comes around, Williams will know that from there, it will be about continuing to put in the needed work, getting better, and staying ready for when the ball does come his way on the field.
There will definitely be avenues and early opportunities for Williams to cement a place for himself within the Trojan offense. Add that he can be used in a variety of roles and formations. His versatility should allow coach Lincoln Riley to be able to draw up plays and find creative ways to get him the ball.
Only a matter of time for USC wideout
This will be an offense that has a lot of potential and depth. Players like Williams add to the possibilities of seeing the offense take the needed step this year and be able to withstand the long season up ahead in the second year in the Big Ten.
Whether it's in his first season with the Trojans or later on, Williams is someone that all USC fans need to keep tabs on. The potential is there.
