While the past seasons have not been where they needed to be, USC is actually in a great position at the moment. The way that coach Lincoln Riley has things set up will allow the Trojans to not only be competitive in 2025, but most also acknowledge that the future in Troy is looking increasingly good.

It has to also be remembered that USC was only a couple of plays away, here and there, during the past season from having a respectable record in the first year in the Big Ten.

Fast forward to August, and the way in which the program has tackled many of the issues makes it so that there can almost be an assumed sense of improvement. Granted, within 60 minutes of a college football game, quite literally anything is on the table to happen. It can be somewhat dangerous to pencil in anything too soon before having seen how anyone actually looks.

Still, when factoring in the improvements from the strength and conditioning standpoint and some of the other aspects of the roster, including bulked-up and increased line depth, there should be a significant amount of hope when looking at the potential outlook for USC.

Positive outlook for USC

Some, even within the Trojan fan base, may continue to express hesitancy or even outright doubt. This is a program, however, that has taken the needed steps and is operating more like one of the top schools in the nation.

Frustrating and heartbreaking losses may yet still be on the menu. That is a part of the sport. There will always be a multitude of factors beyond the control of coach Riley and the team. Being able to put oneself in a position to succeed and be better prepared for any and all advantages that come throughout a season makes it so that a team can better weather these elements. That is where USC has taken arguably the most important step so far through the beginning of training camp.
