There is a lot to look forward to when discussing the future USC quarterback room. Husan Longstreet will be ready to take over soon enough, and Jonas Williams will be joining in 2026. Class of 2027 quarterback Peyton Houston is also someone who is generating a ton of buzz. The Trojans, among many, are keen to secure the commitment from the young QB.

Most recently at the Rivals Five Star, Houston is starting to earn the respect and attention of more people. The middle of summer points to a time in which college football is just about to pick up again and the high school activity will be coming to a close. Throughout the camps and exhibitions, Houston has shown a tremendous ability to sling the football and pick out his targets.

Being able to throw the ball at a high volume while also protecting the ball is something that many QBs struggle with. Being able to show this ability among his peers is a highly encouraging sign.

It shows a level of maturity to his game and speaks to his ability to balance getting the ball to his targets while also avoiding what would be a costly mistake. Being able to then see that at the collegiate level is going to be the eventual next step. For now, watching Houston play and compete against those within his age range is all that Trojan fans can base a judgment on. To this point, things are looking good.

Encouraing position for USC at the moment

USC is among a number of schools, including Texas and LSU, that are also looking to remain in the picture. By all accounts, as things stand now, the Trojans are in a great position to add the talented quarterback as well.

There is nothing official at this point, but the fact that USC is in a strong position and how the coach Lincoln Riley staff are making a positive, early impression on Houston, a decision could end up seeing him in the Cardinal and Gold soon enough.
