USC continues its hot streak on the recruiting trail with the commitment of Roye Oliver III. The four-star Arizona native represents the Trojans' second high-profile pickup in as many days.

Oliver III, a premier wide receiver prospect, currently sits as the second-ranked player in his state for the 2028 class, though many expect him to reclassify to 2027. To land his pledge, USC had to fend off serious pursuit from regional rivals Oregon and Arizona State.

The stats alone tell the story of an generational talent. After a record-breaking campaign that earned him Sophomore of the Year honors, Roye finished with more than 90 catches, 1,800 yards, and nearly 30 scores. It’s clear USC didn't just land a top-tier athlete; they likely secured a prospect who will be wearing a five-star label by the time he steps onto campus in Los Angeles.

While the full impact of this commitment on USC’s team rankings won't be clear until the 2028 cycle matures or when Oliver III officially reclassifies, there is no denying the caliber of player the Trojans just landed. Currently ranked in the top ten at his position, he is already one of the most prized commits in the country.

Though prospects occasionally see a slight dip in rankings after reclassifying, Oliver III’s elite skill set remains unquestioned. USC moved aggressively to shut this recruitment down, securing his pledge before other national bluebloods could make their move.

The Trojans are coming off of a No. 1-rated recruiting class in 2026 and haven't looked back. Through the power of several top in-state commits, USC already has a top-five class for 2027 and is looking to build on that. The commitment of Oliver III shows that Lincoln Riley and staff are locking down things on the West Coast.
