The University of Southern California continues its recruiting momentum with the addition of Danny Lang, a highly-coveted prospect out of Mater Dei. Ranked as the eighth-best player in the state, Lang’s decision to stay home is a significant victory for the Trojans.
This commitment strengthens USC's push for a top-five national ranking and, perhaps more importantly, prevents a key West Coast rival like Oregon from poaching one of California's finest.

The path to this commitment wasn't always clear. Early in the cycle, Lang appeared to be leaning toward Oregon, leaving USC to play catch-up from the back foot. However, the Trojans' recruiting machine, led by the aggressive and methodical approach of General Manager Chad Bowden and Head Coach Lincoln Riley refused to concede. By turning the tide on a key local prospect, the staff proved once again that they can successfully pivot a recruitment and close the deal when it matters most.
USC secures commitment of 4-star ATH Danny Lang
Lang’s commitment follows a period of intense, high-visibility recruitment. Over the past month, the elite cornerback was seen at USC spring practices almost daily, frequently arriving as early as 6:00 AM to observe the team and meet with the staff before attending classes at Mater Dei. This level of immersion, followed by a strategic delay in his announcement, left little doubt among insiders. The final push included a personalized video message from former Mater Dei teammates on the Coliseum Jumbotron, a signature "big game" move that has become a hallmark of the Lincoln Riley and Chad Bowden era.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds, Lang becomes the 15th prospect in the last two cycles to join USC with a top-ten positional ranking. His commitment further solidifies the revitalized Mater Dei-to-USC pipeline, marking the fifth commitment from the Santa Ana powerhouse since 2026. This connection to the Trinity League has once again become a cornerstone of the Trojans' local recruiting dominance.
The lockdown corner arrives at USC with an impressive resume, totaling 73 tackles, 14 pass deflections, and four forced turnovers at the varsity level. Lang’s commitment gives the Trojans a formidable duo in the secondary; he joins fellow elite cornerback prospect Aaryn Washington of IMG Academy. With both players holding top-ten national rankings at the position, USC is quickly building one of the most feared defensive secondaries in the 2027 class.
