It seems like a tidal wave of good news comes for USC anytime outside voices aim their attacks on the program. With the recent reclassification of RJ Sermons (seemingly taking away the chance of Notre Dame flipping him), for example, another piece of good Trojan news arrived heading into the weekend.

Ja'Myron Baker, a three-star commit from Sierra Canyon, is part of the class of 2026. Baker announced on social media that he would be shutting down any further recruitment.

There are many voices who believe the Trojans' focus on recruits so far out before they are able to come to campus is a largely wasted effort. What this latest news should show is that momentum and the snowball effect are contagious within the program.

Players want to play for a program that they feel is heading in the right direction. Despite the past season's 7-6 record, there are a lot of encouraging signs around the future of the program.

Baker, a receiver who had interest from schools like Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Miami wanting to turn off any other potential options, now shows what the up-and-coming players are looking forward to joining and hoping to contribute to a program that is back on the rise again.

Committed since September of 2023, Baker has pledged to become a Trojan for a while now. It is still a year away before he joins the team, but there is a lot to like.

A lot to like about the future USC receiver

Already showing an early ability to run routes at a high level and make difficult catches, there are a lot of aspects to Baker's game that will be highlighted in the coach Lincoln Riley offense. Add his speed, ability to get open, and strong run-after-the-catch capability; he is the exact type of wideout that USC will need to build out the WR room.

It may be a while before some of these names that are mentioned in the college football news landscape are able to become Trojans. Updates like that of Baker's should show that the staff's insistence on building authentic relationships in a step-by-step, continued approach is what will allow USC to be in a good position for a long time to come.
