When USC quarterback Husan Longstreet tells a fish story, rest assured, it is far from an exaggeration. Shared via the Trojan player's Instagram, videos and pictures can be seen of how the QB decided to spend his downtime over the Fourth of July weekend.

With the caption of #bluefintuna, Longstreet pulled in what he described as a catch that came in at 80 lbs. in the comment section. As far as fish go, by all means, it was a tremendous single haul from the freshman.

While others may decide to simply enjoy their holiday weekend by spending some time by the pool or grilling for family and friends, Longstreet is apparently the type to go into deep waters and catch his meal for the day.

Although if the axiom is true about the worst day of fishing, then especially after seeing what became of his efforts, it is safe to say that he too had a nice holiday.

Finishing is an activity that requires a great deal of skill and patience. Qualities that anyone would like to see from their quarterback are on full display in one of man's oldest pastimes.

This could also be something of a good omen in terms of prior USC greats who also have managed to establish themselves as seasoned fishermen.

Continuing USC fishing legacy

Carson Palmer and Clay Matthews, especially since their retirement from the NFL, have taken a deeper dive into the hobby. Considering what Palmer and Matthews meant to the program and the success that they would each go on to have at the next level, fishing is looking to be something of a good Trojan omen.

Kidding aside, Longstreet is someone that many are excited about. Oftentimes, clips or pictures are shared of Longstreet working on his on-field development. It is also nice to see him being multifaceted in other areas. Imagine what this specific story from the quarterback would sound like.
