A nice aspect that has played a significant part in the uptick of USC's recruiting efforts has been the presence of former Trojans. This is something that the program can lean into and flatly outdo the rest of college football.
There have been so many greats that stepped foot in the Coliseum in the Cardinal and Gold. Players, especially those from the SoCal region, grew up idolizing these Trojan players from years past. Even among the younger generation, the players who are currently looking to commit to USC or are already on the team know of the accolades and have heard of and seen clips from these walking legends.
From June 13 through June 15, USC hosted a number of recruits and commits. A luxury that the Trojans have that other schools do not is the ability to match up the recruits with a former player from the program who coincidentally is also an NFL Hall of Famer at the same position.
College football and NFL icons share wisdom with next Trojan generation
Class of 2026 cornerback commit Elbert Hill was shown with Ronnie Lott during his visit, as shared on X by his father, Elbert Hill III. While a player at USC, Lott's play was so dominant in the secondary that the Lott IMPACT Trophy is named after him to this day. It is an award given to the best defensive player in all of college football.
Although a certain Waymond Jordan is not a Trojan prospect at this point, he too experienced something similar to Hill in being able to spend some time with a former USC great of his position. Arrogant Nation shared a post showing Jordan and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Allen together.
For both the current and future Trojans, being able to meet and interact with two players who achieved at an exceedingly high level speaks to the continued legacy that has been forged at USC.
