Following her career since when she played at Sierra Canyon High School, USC guard JuJu Watkins has given fans a glimpse into her life through the Peacock docuseries 'On the Rise: JuJu Watkins.' It is not necessarily the news update that Trojan supporters have been waiting for. There is continued hope of promising updates on Watkins' potential return following her ACL injury.

This is, meanwhile, an exciting development for fans to look forward to. Initially reported by ESPN's  Alexa Philippou, a second season of the series following Watkins has been approved and will be filmed. The next season will follow and focus on the USC guard's junior year.

Although questions remain as to what the footage may ultimately end up looking like. Granted, the first season of the series had a two-year arc. As mentioned, it started with her senior year in high school and ended with her as a Trojan during her freshman year.

While the second season of the series is only now being announced as being greenlit, it would make sense for that to mean that a lot of the scenes during the upcoming show will be from this past season. Considering it was released in November of 2024 for the first season, it makes sense that the similar principle will hold true this time around as well.

This is only being brought up due to the concern of the camera crew then being limited to following her rehab process without any game or practice footage with her involvement. While that clearly would not be the case (maybe for an eventual season three), even if that were to be the storyline that the camera crew followed, it would be highly interesting to see how a true superstar of the sport deals with this injury adversity.

How Watkins works through the rehab process and stays motivated and engaged while playing a part in the Trojans' team from the sidelines would still be something that many would tune in to.

Strong support for USC guard

That is the type of following that Watkins has. Whether she is coaching her Overtime Select team or playing at a Naismith National Player of the Year level herself, people are going to be invested in watching a show like what is being produced by Peacock with her.

The post by Philippou also shared that Rich Paul and LeBron James are producers on the project. Considering the amount of star power that is involved with this series, the speculative third season announcement is likely to come soon enough as well, speaking to the popularity of the USC guard.
