The path to any gold medal always presents challenges. USC freshman Jazzy Davidson played a huge part in helping Team USA secure a first-place finish in Czechia during this year's U19 FIFA World Cup.

Going 7-0 in any competition is difficult and impressive. During their run, the Trojan showed on the global stage why she ended as the No. 1 player in the country in her recruiting class and why so many are eager for her to fully join the Women of Troy fold and prepare for the upcoming season.

Throughout the eventual gold medal run, Davidson proved to be an instrumental part of the Team USA side on both ends of the court. Her composure and ability to make the right reads and then also take and convert tough shots already separate her from her peers and will allow her to make an easier transition once the college games begin later this year.

During the final against Australia, the runner-ups kept the game within reach and kept it within single digits until the final minutes of the fourth quarter. While the game was still one that could have gone either way, it was Davidson who stepped up and provided some key plays that ultimately led to what looked like an overall comfortable 88-76 win for the Americans.

Her transition offense and difficult bank shot in particular proved to be enough to limit Australia's run at the time and allowed for the lead to widen enough by the end.

Davidson's second efforts and defensive attention are additional elements that should further excite USC fans when the freshman steps foot on campus.

Overall, it was an international tournament that Davidson will always be able to look back on with pride, a gold medal winner in the red, white, and blue.
