In an increasing run of positive news for the USC football recruiting class of 2026, Tomuhini Topui is set on being a Trojan. Continuing to make inroads on that front, particularly for the high-end talent in the state of California, securing and keeping athletes from some of the top high school programs will be vital for the school's future.

Speaking with On3's Hayes Fawcett, the four-star commit made it clear that USC would be his collegiate home. He told the source that he would be shutting down his recruitment process entirely. For someone who initially appeared to be on his way to the Oregon Ducks, it looks like that avenue has now been sealed off.

The Mater Dei junior has mentioned in the past his desire to stay close to home. His strong connection to his family and the role that the Polynesian culture maintains in his life made this an important element in his earlier decision to switch to the Trojans. Now solidifying his commitment and no longer interested in hearing potential offers or pitches from other schools, his sights are set on Los Angeles under head coach Lincoln Riley.

Update lines up for USC football commit

In the post shared by Fawcett, he shared that there would not be any further visits to any other campuses. Here the defensive lineman iterated through the media:

"I’m staying home, there’s no other place to be."

This shows his interest in taking the field in the Cardinal and Gold and how excited he is to eventually get to campus and get it done in the trenches for the Trojans. Some may feel that any announcement so far out doesn't mean anything, and by all means, every case will vary based on individual circumstances.

From Topui, however, this update and everything he's said leading up to Sunday's news fall in line with what fans have been seeing during the recruiting cycle. He's a Trojan and knows that the program is going to continue to be on the rise, and the connection at USC football is truly unlike any other in the nation. Fans should be very excited for him to step on campus as a freshman when that time comes.
