The USC Trojans have come out strong since the transfer portal opened on Jan. 2, lining up multiple visits with key impact players. But perhaps their biggest move so far is throwing their hat into the ring for Cam Coleman.

The standout Auburn wide receiver and former five-star recruit is in high demand, with USC set to host him for a visit on Jan. 8. The Trojans are joining Texas A&M and Texas Tech in the race. While earlier reports suggested Coleman would visit Texas and Alabama, it now seems A&M, Tech, and USC are emerging as the early favorites to land the instant impact player.

Coleman is the top-ranked wide receiver in the portal and would be a huge signing for USC, no matter the wants or needs for the 2026 roster. Coming off his sophomore season, he hauled in 56 passes for 708 yards and five touchdowns. As a recruit, he was ranked the No. 4 player in the nation.

Cam Coleman would be an immediate difference maker in a Lincoln Riley offense. Heโ€™s the kind of player who could change not just a game, but an entire season. With a strong chance to bring the Biletnikoff back to USC for the second year in a row, his massive 6'3'', 210-pound frame would give Jayden Maiava a perfect target as the quarterback looks to build on his incredible 2025 season.

When it comes to transfer portal prospects, a few key factors need to align for a commitment to happen, and finances are a big one. Coleman is expected to command a high price for his services, and USC will have to decide if theyโ€™re willing to meet that demand. If money isnโ€™t an issue, USC could make Colemanโ€™s recruitment very intriguing.

The Trojans were previously in on Evan Stewart as a portal target in 2025 before the financials stopped adding up. General Manager Chad Bowden wasnโ€™t in his role a year ago, so it will be interesting to see how he and the staff approach their first portal class together. One thingโ€™s certain. USC is going all out and not resting on their No. 1 recruiting class arriving on campus this month.
