Uchenna Nwosu broke Super Bowl LX open with his 45-yard interception for a touchdown that gave the Seattle Seahawks a 29-7 lead and put a cap on a dominant performance by that unit.

And Nwosu joined Malcolm Smith as the second USC Trojan to score a defensive touchdown. Smith did it in Super Bowl XLVIII with the... Seattle Seahawks in a 43-8 win over the Denver Broncos that earned him the MVP award

Nwosu, a veteran edge rusher, finally got to Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the fourth quarter, and he made it count.

Nwosu adds to the list of former Trojans to score in the Super Bowl

Nwosu was one of four USC alums to win a Super Bowl ring Sunday night in the Seattle Seahawks' 29-13 win over the New England Patriots, joining quarterback Sam Darnold, defensive tackle Leonard Williams and nose guard Brandon Pili.

He also became the latest former Trojan to record an interception. The standard is still Rod Martin, who this author mistakenly omitted from the top five USC Super Bowl performances (sorry Nelson Agholor), who had three picks in Super Bowl XV, a record for interceptions in a Super Bowl that still stands.

Nwosu, who was a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2018 NFL Draft, had flashes of brilliance early in his career, but really put it together in his final season in Los Angeles with 40 tackles, five sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery in his first year as a full-time starter. He signed a free-agent contract with Seattle in 2022 and had a career high in tackles (66) and sacks (9.5). Now he's a Super Bowl champion.

The linebacker had a chance to talk about the bond that he and the other former Trojans on the Seahawks have and what being a Trojan means to him.

"We're very tight. It's SC. We have a mantra, it's called 'Fight On' and, no matter what happens, we continue to fight through everything," Nwosu said. "Shout out to my SC brothers and sisters here on this squad, and we were able to bring home a championship."
