The offensive line has long been a focal point of discussion surrounding the USC Trojans football program. As the team enters its second season in the Big Ten, there’s growing pressure from fans and supporters for USC to finally take a major step forward in the trenches.

With physicality and line play now more important than ever, all eyes are on left tackle Elijah Paige, who stands out as USC’s most important offensive lineman heading into the 2025 season. His development and leadership could be the key to unlocking the next level of success for the Trojans up front.

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Elijah Paige returns in 2025 as a cornerstone of USC’s offensive line and a key team leader. He represented the Trojans at Big Ten Media Days alongside teammates Maki Lemon and Kamari Ramsey, highlighting his growing role both on and off the field. Last season, Paige started all 13 games at left tackle, earning Big Ten Honorable Mention and Freshman All-American honors.

He was instrumental in helping USC lead the Big Ten in passing offense, averaging 291.9 yards per game. Now, with a year of experience under his belt, Paige is poised to build on that success and anchor the line as USC aims to take another step forward in its second Big Ten season.

Critical aspect for USC success

A consistent theme throughout this series is how USC’s offense can support Jaiden Maiava as he takes over as the full-time starting quarterback. One of the most important factors in making that transition smooth and successful is left tackle Elijah Paige. Paige has the potential to be the most critical piece in ensuring that Maiava and the Trojans’ talented skill position players can thrive.

While Maiava brings mobility to the position, protecting his blind side will be essential to unlocking the full potential of USC’s offensive arsenal. As one of the most experienced players on that side of the ball, Paige isn’t just expected to anchor the offensive line, he’s being counted on to help lead the offense as a whole.
