Naturally, USC Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Quincy Watts will look forward to and celebrate each individual performance in Eugene, Oregon, as the Trojans prepare for the Big Ten Championships.

There are a number of USC athletes who will have a great shot at winning their respective events. The men's and women's squads are ranked in the top two in the nation. Then, between the likes of Max Thomas and Madison Whyte, there will be strong contenders to compile victories against the best of the conference.

While speaking with the Big Ten Network, Director Watts spoke on why he would cherish a team title win more. Speaking from his own experience as a high-level athlete and from his involvement with the program, being able to get it done as a collective and celebrating a win together as a unit stands out more and is something that he hopes this year's roster can experience.

Through the May 16-18 weekend, the Trojans will look to have a strong enough showing to warrant being crowned Big Ten champions at the end of it all.

Among the sprinters, especially, there will be a lot of events that favor USC. To achieve that ultimate team triumph, it will require the best effort from everyone. Even in events where other schools grab the victory, points are always at stake, and finishing second versus placing third can make a difference in the final tally.

Other USC athletes currently having good years

Ashley Erasmus, with her throws, is an example of someone that Trojans fans should monitor this weekend. The freshman currently holds the school record in the shot put and has already earned a number of honors, including an earlier Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Shaiquan Dunn is another impressive freshman. In his first year at USC, he has won his event a number of times and is someone for Trojan fans to keep an eye on in Eugene.

These are only some of the many Trojan athletes who have had a good year up to this point and who will help push USC over the stated team goal of winning the Big Ten Championship. Director Watts has stated his team's intention; they are very much capable of achieving this goal of excellence.
