The hire of coach Rob Ryan has already had a tremendous impact on the USC program. A longtime NFL journeyman, coach Ryan has done well to adapt to the college game. Particularly from the defensive players, the Trojans tend to go out of their way to say something positive about the linebackers coach.

Coach Ryan has brought an added level of intensity and passion to the team that has been needed. Yet, when a former NFL-level coach takes a job in college, it often comes with the assumption of the college gig being used as a springboard to get back into the pros.

According to Heavy's Ethan Inman, though, coach Ryan is not only extremely happy with his current role at USC, but this is also the final stop for him until he decides to retire.

Inman shared how his brother, coach Rex Ryan, believes that coach Rob Ryan will be on the sidelines for another decade or so. When looking at how the Trojan assistant conducts his portions of the practice, there is something of a feeling that he could keep the energy and pace up for quite a long time to come.

Confirmation from USC coach

The USC defensive coach also confirmed that the Trojans will be his last job. It must be mentioned, of course, that this could very well be how he feels as things stand now. Even a month from now, however, it is unknown what potential opportunities will open up or what offers will be offered his way.

Still, coach Ryan is enjoying Troy so far, and there was no need for him to come out and outright stake a claim of wanting to stay at USC long-term. With these factors in mind, it is looking increasingly likely that the one who is standing out within the program is slated to stay for a while, going against what would usually be expected in such scenarios.
