Why USC Football QB Caleb Williams is able to be so efficient

Following their 45-17 win against Fresno State, USC football has made it clear that they are making a run at the national championship. While they did not move up from the seventh spot in the AP Top 25, USC's next matchup is against an unranked Oregon State. This could be an easy opportunity for head coach, Lincoln Riley, to lead his squad to a four-game win streak. 

After making the transfer to USC, there were doubts that Caleb Williams may not live up to the hype.  When evaluating his performances through his first three games, it is safe to say that Williams is just as advertised. Moreover, Williams has been ridiculously efficient, posting a completion percentage of 74.4. He has an absurd 190.5 passing efficiency rating.

Furthermore, star quarterback Williams has been the primary reason why USC has been able to perform at such a high level. As the defense continues to dominate, the offense has been near-perfect since game one. 

Nonetheless, these high-scoring games would not be possible without one of the best running back rooms in all of college football. One of the top priorities in Riley's scheme is to establish a run game early on. This strategy may confuse defenses, which can create more opportunities for Caleb Williams and the rest of the offense.

USC Football's elite running back group allows Caleb Williams to make the right reads.

With Caleb Williams stuffing the stat sheet, USC Football's running back room tends to go unnoticed. Austin Jones and Travis Dye have both made significant contributions that deserve a second look. Lincoln Riley relies on a strong run game, which may lead to more completions through the air. 

Despite the fact that Williams is USC's most valuable player, Dye and Jones play a huge factor in how powerful the offense can be. These two can also be utilized in the passing game, which adds to why Williams has been so efficient. 

In their recent blowout win against Fresno State, Dye and Jones combined for 23 carries, 212 yards, and two touchdowns. These two also averaged almost 10 yards per run. Additionally, Dye and Jones caught a total of five passes for 52 yards. Although these numbers may seem unreal, these two have yet to reach their full potential. 

The offensive line deserves much of the credit as well. Without a strong o-line, the offense could take a huge step in the wrong direction. USC Football star lineman, Andrew Vorhees, has taken a massive leap since the start of the season. By creating gaps for his running backs and giving his QB time to throw the ball, the offense has been able to score points at a steady pace.

When taking a look at Williams' stats, it is important to note down how great his teammates have been. As he is surrounded by some of the best talents in the nation, Williams is in the perfect position to succeed. USC Football has, without a doubt, one of the best overall offenses in the entire country.
