2023 five-star QB and USC football commit Malachi Nelson (all recruiting ratings and rankings in article are as of 247Sports) has signed with sports agency Klutch Sports. He becomes the first high school player to ever sign with the agency. It has been around since 2012, and was launched by NBA megastar LeBron James and sports agent Rich Paul.

Klutch Sports will represent the No. 2 QB in the 2023 class as he pursues NIL opportunities. California is one of just 13 states to allow high school athletes to make NIL money without losing their eligibility, so the Los Alamitos Quarterback is taking advantage of his opportunities here.

Recently, people have been worried about Nelson's recent unofficial visit to Texas A&M, and whether that means he's prioritizing their NIL collective over signing with USC. However, Nelson signing with Klutch Sports suggests the opposite if anything. It shows that he'll have strong NIL opportunities no matter where he goes.

Athletes represented by Klutch and Rich Paul have had great success making money in sports. If Nelson can be represented by them at such a young age, clearly they see a lot of potential in his image making a ton of money regardless of where he goes.

And if Klutch saw him signing with A&M as a major NIL/money upgrade over USC, they would not have signed him when he's still committed to USC and the chances of him flipping being reported as more unlikely than likely.

Malachi Nelson already has signed an NIL deal while committed to USC football.

Malachi Nelson clearly is doing just fine on the NIL trail with USC football, as he already signed an NIL deal with The h.wood Group--an L.A. based lifestyle and hospitality company. In fact, it's another data point on why Nelson isn't likely to go to TAMU. He's already signed an NIL deal with a company that's based here.

The No. 2 overall player in the country already has used his potential to sign a deal in high school, and is now being represented by a major agency. An agency that's helped all kinds of pro athletes (NBA in particular) leverage themselves to make the most money possible.

He's in good hands in his NIL situation, and it was strengthened quite a bit on Thursday when he signed with Klutch. He'll be fine as far as his NIL situation goes, and being a Trojan is clearly not hindering him.
