The Top 10 USC Trojans football players of the last decade
By John Fye
Welcome to another walk down USC Trojans football memory lane. There are 56 days remaining until Troy starts its new season, but in the meantime, we're thinking about the last ten years. The previous decade of USC football was arguably the most polarizing in the program's history. Nevertheless, ten former Trojans stood out as having led USC to all its high points from the 2014 to 2023 seasons.
Our list begins with a couple of USC alums who did not make the cut.
Honorable Mention: DT Brandon Pili (2017-22)
After recent seasons of porous Trojan defense, we often reflect on Brandon Pili fondly. The 345-pound Alaskan doesn't have the awards to show for his collegiate career, but he was undoubtedly one of USC's better players. Pili made an immediate impact as a freshman in Southern California, appearing in nine games, including two starts.
His NCAA career was hindered by a COVID-shortened season in 2020 and a torn ACL in 2021. However, Pili rebounded and accumulated a career-high in tackles (25) through 14 games in 2022. He signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2023.
Honorable Mention: OL Jonah Monheim (2020-Present)
We recently named Jonah Monheim to our list of the most important players for USC's 2024 season, and for good reasons. Monheim moves to center this season after starting 13 games at left tackle in 2023. The senior from Moorpark (CA) predominantly played right tackle in 2022, thus illustrating his incredible adaptability.
Monheim is the consummate team player. He could have easily demanded to remain at left tackle or transferred to a school needing one. Instead, he's changing positions for a third time because his team needs him to. Such an attitude has Monheim on the cusp of our list of the top 10 Trojans of the last decade.
