The TE returning to USC Football may be happening at the perfect time

The Tight End position has not been used in the passing game for USC Football in quite some time. Even when Drake London was here, he was essentially converted to a wide receiver very quickly, due to how dominant he could be out wide, and as a slot wideout.

Nobody behind him got the job done as a tight end. Interestingly, though, SC Tight End Josh Falo had a great game for the Trojans during Saturday's loss to the Utes. The outcome was a loss, but it can't be blamed on Falo, as he had two touchdown passes. Even in a situation where he only had two catches for 14 yards, he made them count--finding the end zone both times.

Falo has been noticeably strong in the run blocking game, but wasn't involved in the receiving game. This past week, though, he really made his first two catches of the season count. If Falo can continue to be an impact player in the passing game, it would be absolutely MASSIVE for this offense. No. 1 Wide Receiver for the Trojans, Jordan Addison, suffered a leg injury during the game.

Somebody needs to step up. With Falo really stepping up against Utah, who's to say he can't continue to make strides like this and pick this passing game up without their top pass catcher? Also, it's not like talent has ever been a question with Falo. He came into the Trojan program as the No. 4 Tight End in the entire 2017 recruiting class (all recruiting rankings and ratings in article are as of 247Sports).

Josh Falo was always going to be a potential threat if he can stay healthy for USC Football.

The reason USC Football TE Josh Falo hasn't lived up to expectations as that four-star recruit is due to injury. Injuries limited Falo to 12 games in his previous five years with the team. Again, he was a top 19 recruit in the entire state of California. All he needs is health to give himself the opportunity to prove himself.

Hopefully Saturday was the start. He's tied for the team lead in touchdown catches for tight ends after just finally getting receptions this week. It goes to show that he has a chance to really shine as long as he gets his looks. With no word on the severity of Addison's injury (at least as of this writing), those looks may keep coming for Falo.
