Fans across the country have hilarious reactions to the new PAC-12

The PAC-12 is proving to be the college version of a cockroach that can't be killed. After dropping down to just two schools for the 2024-25 academic year, the conference has regained a bit of a pulse by adding four Mountain West Conference universities, Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State, and Colorado State.

Thursday's realignment news stirred up the ever-changing waters of the conference landscape across America. But it also should have reminded USC fans just how wise the Trojans were to jump ship to the Big Ten when they had the chance.

Remember, in the summer of 2022 when USC and UCLA announced their intentions to join the Big Ten, many around the country vilified those schools for destroying the PAC-12 as we had come to know it. However, it was worth all of the criticism because the PAC-12 was on the shakiest of ground even then.

Years of poor leadership and a lack of forward thinking by the powers that be as well as some PAC-12 university presidents, left the "Conference of Champions" in a vulnerable place financially. Thus, when USC had a chance to land in the most stable of conferences, the Big Ten, and reap all the financial rewards, leaving the PAC-12 was an easy decision.

Now, the Trojans' former conference is nothing more than a six-team Group of 5 program that had to raid the mid-tier Mountain West just to stay alive. Losing USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon only to replace them with Boise, Fresno, CSU, and San Diego State is like the Beatles losing John, Paul, George, and Ringo and replacing them with a cover band.

As you might expect, the PAC-12 is trying to sell these moves as ones that will resurrect the good name of the league. However, every fan knows that these additions are not going to move the needle one bit.
