No one was shocked to see that the Chicago Bears picked USC football alum Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the first round of Thursday night's NFL Draft. After all, the Bears are perhaps the most snake-bitten franchise in the NFL when it comes to QB play.

Jay Cutler is the franchise's all-time leading passer with just 23,443 career yards. He also leads Chicago in career TD passes with 154.

Meanwhile, Erik Kramer's 3,838 passing yards in 1995 is the most that any Bears' QB has ever thrown for in a season. That's an incredibly low number for one of the oldest NFL franchises in existence.

That year, Kramer also set a franchise record with 29 TD passes. So no Chicago QB has ever thrown for 4,000 yards of 30 TDs in a season. Of course, Bears fans believe Williams will smash those records.

Thursday night, the NFL posted a video to X showing Williams watching a recorded message from his mother. The heartwarming moment elicited all the feelings from fans.

Also on Thursday night, Chicago drafted Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze with the No. 9 pick to give Williams a premier target to get the ball to. As you might expect, Chicago fans have high hopes that Williams and Odunze will become one of the best QB/WR duos in the NFL.

Chicago has been a franchise stuck in the mud for quite some time. Thus, the fans' optimism and excitement for Williams and Odunze is understandable and it led to some funny posts on social media.
