Four-star USC Football Athlete commit Makai Lemon is a blue-chip 2023 recruit that the Trojans can't have flip. It's why this strong start to the season is so necessary. Winning is, and always has been, the best recruiter. With early signing day happening in a couple of months, though, other schools may be trying to ramp up their efforts to flip Lemon.

Lemon was asked about this by Scott Schrader of WeAreSC.com. Schrader asked if he planned on visiting anybody else when the high school season ends. His answer was perfect.

"Come on Scott, I'm All Fight On," said Lemon.

That's excellent to hear. Lemon is going to be a key component to this 2023 recruiting class, as he is the No. 2 Athlete recruit in all of high school football (all recruiting rankings and ratings in article are as of 247Sports). Not only that, but he's also a top five recruit in the state of California. It's not only a matter of locking down the state of California, but locking down a near five-star in California.

That's what Makai Lemon is for USC Football, a near five-star recruit.

When Makai Lemon committed to the USC Football program, he was rated as a five-star. Having a great season, he's proven to not have fallen off much from where he was at that status. He's the No. 39 player in the country--he's a freak talent who can maybe even play some defensive back at SC.

Of course, though, he's more of a wide receiver. Him being so stuck on staying only improves the chances of five-star USC QB commit Malachi Nelson sticking with his Trojans commitment. That was of course speculated by the internet to be in doubt when he took an unofficial visit to Texas A&M this summer.

With one of his top receivers at Los Alamitos keeping his eyes peeled on USC, it only helps Nelson's chances of staying with the Trojans. That would be excellent. As things stand right now, USC is No. 14 in the national recruiting rankings. They need to keep everyone they can.

Keeping everyone, and then going on a run of commitments as signing day approaches is how they enter the top ten, and that's what SC hired Lincoln Riley to do. Winning is the best recruiter at the end of the day, and Riley has done his part there for sure. The Trojans are now 6-1 in just their first year transitioning to a new head coach.
