The future years at USC will unquestionably be good. There is a lot of momentum throughout campus and within the program that points to the Trojans being able to take advantage of the latest changes in college sports at a higher rate than others in the country.

There is still a lot to play for in 2025. While a lot of attention is deservingly on the 2026 and 2027 classes, this season's roster has a lot to offer as well as they look to improve from last year's .500 record.

It is not being discussed in the wider media as a whole, but the running back and wide receiving rooms of the Trojans are deep and have a lot of top-end talent. To this point, they are being mostly overlooked, but it should not surprise anyone to ultimately see these position groups in particular have outstanding seasons this fall.

For Trojan fans, it will be exciting to see the wideouts have two legitimate threats to push for a 1,000-yard season each. Ja'Kobi Lane and Makai Lemon have that ability to show up on a consistent basis and should be able to put up big numbers under coach Lincoln Riley.

Prince Strachan has transferred in from Boise State. There aren't too many places where he would enter the year as the number three option at receiver, but the fact that he is shows just how good this room is.

Further down an anticipated depth chart, Jay Fair, Corey Simms, and Xavier Jordan are players that college football fans will need to keep an eye on. Either of those offensive options could be due for a breakout game at any point during the season.

When analyzing the running back room, USC may very well have the best overall personnel at that position as well.

Focusing on the USC running back situation

Waymond Jordan and Eli Sanders are expected to be the featured 1-2 backs. The transfers will have a lot of early responsibility on their shoulders. There is a reason why the staff is confident about their running attack for the upcoming season.

When looking at the potential and what these two have done at their previous spots, it is easy to see why the Trojan fan base will want to see coach Riley lean on the run game a lot in 2025. Bryan Jackson and Riley Wormley are two underclassmen that are continuing to do what is needed in order for them to earn snaps.

In the event of something forcing either Jordan or Sanders to miss time, the ability of coach Riley to then turn to Jackson or Wormley should further show how that position is in a great place.

At this time, football fans are focusing more on other position groups throughout the country. USC will certainly catch some people off guard, perhaps when it should realistically be expected, however.
