It has been a good start to the Elite 11 Finals for USC commit Jonas Williams. The increased spotlight and attention on the quarterback's skill set allow him to show off his full display of talent in front of a national audience while competing against some of the top prospects in the country.
The showcase also afforded the opportunity for reporters to spend some time with Williams and ask him about a variety of aspects. 2026 is not too far away, and the future Trojan is looking sharp so far in his young career.
While a lot of his attention and energy is on his own development, Williams shared how he is also doing his best to help in the recruiting aspect as well. Imaad posted on X a clip of an interview with Williams in which he made it clear that he is not only making a push to secure the services of EDGE rusher Luke Wafle but that he feels confident that the currently uncommitted player will soon commit to the Cardinal and Gold.
Early on Wednesday, however, On3's Steve Wiltfong made a so-called 'expert' prediction for Wafle to choose Ohio State. Not that these types of picks are entirely meaningless. There must be something (surely) that would lead to someone sticking their neck out and speaking on the potential commitment with such a degree of certainty.
Even if the information is sourced from the player and his family themselves, until it is official, and truthfully until someone steps on campus as a student, anything is possible, and a lot can change on even an hour-to-hour basis.
Prospect of joining USC far from over
The Buckeyes may very well have taken a lead in securing the defensive lineman's services. Until an official announcement comes, the Trojans are certainly in a solid position to secure the defender's commitment.
This mentality is something that has often been seen throughout the 2026 and 2027 class members. Williams making an effort and taking the initiative to bring the best players with him to USC as part of the class is becoming a common theme among the future Trojans.
